We received word that Moscow bureau head editor from the Russian newspaper PRAVDA was in town in Honolulu, thanks to Ryan of The Tranmsission. If you don't know, Pravda is perhaps the equivalent of the New York Times in Russia, it's the biggest of the news media out there, and they sent him out for a full one week trip
dedicated to Lost.
We met with the reporter "Val" on his second to last day, and for starters showed him around some filming locations at his hotel, the Hawaii Prince, and nearby. We'll post a link to his story when it's published.
Then we got in the car and he made his pitch: I want to see the bunker. The Diamondhead Bunkers that were Iraq? "No NO NO," he said, "the
DHARMA bunker from Season 3". He meant the DHARMA Hydra Station, which we had earlier pegged to be the defunct US Coast Guard
Omega Station in Haiku in Kaneohe. We haven't been there yet ourselves, so we took a brief look at the
Google Maps satellite view, then off we went down the Likelike Hwy.
The Omega Station is along the pre-trail to the famous "Stairway To Heaven" (aka Haiku Stairs) hike. The road forked, and we guessed from our memory of the satellite view, and chose left. It was hot and steep, but eventually we found what we came for.
